4 Things a Legitimate Model Agency Asks You

We list things that a legitimate model agency does that make you feel uncomfortable but is actually beneficial for you in the long run.

Initial outlay

A model agency may ask for an initial outlay of money from you. Either they may ask you for portfolio fees or deduct a certain percentage of commission from your initial project fees, or even work at contracts. This may sound pretty demanding; however, it should not deter you if you have enough passion for excelling in the industry. The reason why a model agency extracts some initial cost from you is because they need to make up their costs of creating a portfolio for you and work required to set you up with clients. Working for free also gets you opportunities easier, for example, you can work with designers and photographers who want to create their own portfolio for free, and this allows you to gain modeling experiences as well. This makes it a mutually beneficial solution for all. The experience and portfolio you gather from the initial sacrifice of fees and payment will go a long way in getting more job opportunities.

Change your Looks to Suit Their Assignments

A model agency may ask you to do certain fashion makeovers such as changing your hair from blonde to brunette, or changing the length of your hair and so on. This is not because they don’t think you look good, but rather they usually want to fit you into the style of modeling that suits you best. For example, the agency may already have an excess of blondes, and they need a good brunette. There may be a few reasons why they ask you to change your look, but it is ultimately the best calling for your look and job opportunities in modeling. Anyway, a top class model is expected to be flexible and look good in any style or costume fitted. Hence, you should never be hesitant to change your look and style, and carry yourself with confidence in your new look.

Lose or Gain Weight

Again, although this may come off as a sensitive matter to you the industry is competitive and requires you to be at the top of your game to succeed. Even for non-mainstream modeling such as plus-size models, there are weight standards that need to be adhered to. In general, agencies have come to the point where they want to portray healthily-sized models. So they may outright reject you if you are too thin or too overweight. Hence, the key aspect to look after is your diet, your nutrition, and health. If you are doing the right things with your health your body will reciprocate naturally and your weight/ BMI would not be hard to control.

Traveling and International Opportunities

Most of us will be delighted at the sound of this, however, most of us do modeling as a ‘side hustle’ and few turn it into long-term fully fledged careers. The thought of traveling and working may sound too exhausting if you are not fully committed to the pursuit of modeling excellence. However, if you have the looks and ability the chances of working on International assignments are pretty high. Many people can only dream of such offers, so think twice before you reject them. And by the way it’s legitimate to receive the offers, and you should be given the liberty to accept or reject them.

Be open to all requests and demands but at the same time be cautious and do your research thoroughly before accepting or rejecting the offers. If you can establish that an agency is legitimate and has nurtured many models, it is likely that the demands they make of you are for your good and progress.

What Type of Pictures Do Model Agencies Want?

If you are truly passionate about modeling and want to impress a modeling agency, the best way to do it is undoubted to submit the best photos. We reveal some important advice on photos model agencies are looking out for and some guidelines for you to follow.

Simplicity is not dullness

Contrary to what may be your instinctive idea, model agencies are not looking out for extraordinary photos or fancy clothes! This may actually work against you. Firstly, the agency might think you are an inflexible person who is only interested in a particular style of fashion and modeling. They may also perceive your effort as arrogance. Agencies are looking for fresh material they can mold and most importantly a humble person they can cooperate and work with. No agency wants to sign someone who they feel might be difficult to work in harmony with.

Therefore, always submit photos with simple clothes and minimal makeup. Solid, dark colors such as maroon and blue would prevent too much distraction and focus the attention on you, your body and facial features more in the photograph.

Avoid distraction

Avoid too much clutter and photo noise in the background. Your background should be as simple as it can be. Remember that model agencies are looking out for YOU and not anyone else, so only you should be in your photographs, and if all else fails, find a simple white wall, and use it as your background.

No edits

Modeling agencies are filled with staff and personnel who are photoshop gurus because of the nature of the industry. They will spot your edit on a photo from miles away. So don’t try your luck with Photoshop or any other software. No editing should be necessary for you to look good on a photo in any case. Moreover, if you do edit and get called for an interview, imagine the disappointment that you will be giving the agency on your first day itself. The best way is to go natural and be known for your authentic look and confident personality. A credible agency will have the creative brains to imagine you with the makeup and clothes of varying degrees and complexities without you physically wearing them.

Social media

If you are truly interested in modeling and want to dedicate your life to it, how you post on social media matters a lot too. Model agencies are usually online and digitally savvy to keep their agency relevant with the times. They are likely to do some background research on you if they are interested in you. That said; don’t be posting studio quality shots or photos online. Model agencies don’t want you to be portraying your social life like a professional job network. Post casual photographs and selfies that show that you can look good without putting in too much effort. Show that you know how to have a good time and have a vibrant personality.

So there you have it, the top qualities in photographs agencies are looking out for. Also, make sure you check the photo submission guidelines and ensure you meet them. Usually, agencies will need at least one face and one body shot, and might have other specific requirements too. Get a reliable friend or family member you know to take the photos for you. Submit clear, simple and well-taken photos, and you will surely have gotten your hands on the ticket into modeling!

Discard or Repair

Every so often it happens that one of the statues I make becomes damaged. It breaks in half or just loses a leg or another small piece. That is a nuisance of course. I made a beautiful statue and that should stay in one piece. Besides, once a statue is broken it is hard to sell it because it’s value has been decreased.

I might restore it. For instance when I really liked the statue myself and wanted to keep it for my own or when I know people still want to buy it regardless of the damage. I started to call it restoration instead of reparation ever since someone asked me to restore something. I carefully put all the pieces back together and the moment I realized it was whole again gave me such enjoyment it convinced me that in some cases reparation precedes discarding. Crummy work should be disposed of all the time. That is not worth wasting your time on.

For restorations I always use a white adhesive designed for wood. It is really strong and becomes transparent when it is dry. Now you should stick the two pieces exactly together the first try. Closely observe how they should be fixed towards each other. Some of the glue may be squeezed out but that doesn’t matter, you can easily remove that with a knife afterwards. Try to maintain the pieces in the same position while holding it together. When the small fringe of glue no longer draws back into the fissure you can put it aside to dry. If glue still bulges out, cut it away with a sharp knife. Don’t worry about missing fragments. You can easily make up a paste consisting of some crushed up ceramics of the right colour and a bit of glue. Either use the small blob of clay you sometimes find at the bottom of a statue or use whatever lies around that happens to have the desired colour. Preferably use the same material the statue was made of. Carefully wad this paste into the cavity. You may have to repeat this several times due to the glue shrinking when it dries. Make sure to resemble as much as possible the original coating of the statue using a spatula or a small knife. You could even use a crayon to color the wadded piece. You’re missing some shiny enamel? Clear nail polish works just as well! If the fracture is something small, like a tail of a leg, try to incorporate a thin piece of silk at the bottom. That will not show and adds a lot of extra strength.

Thousand Pillar Hall – An Acoustic Marvel in Madurai Meenakshi Temple

India is very famous for its temples. Thousands and thousands of temples built and maintained from time immemorial. The sculptures and the building techniques will speak itself the glory of the great tradition.

Madurai is situated at 462 kilometers south of Chennai (Madras as it was known in earlier times). The famous Meenakshi Amman Temple is located in the centre of the city. Inside the temple, there are famous halls like Marriage Hall, Thousand Pillar Hall etc.

The Thousand Pillar Hall is very famous for its beautiful construction.

The hall, even though called as thousand pillar hall, it has only 985 pillars. The pillars are erected in such a way as to fall in line from any angle we view..

In the year 1983, an expert team from audiology department went in to the hall and carried out an extensive study. They have used latest scientific gadgets and found that there is absolutely no echo in any part of the temple even with all the crowd around the sound level seldom exceed 80 dB (decibel)

Naturally the noise level in a quiet surrounding will be 40 dB, in a crowded street about 80-85 dB and at the airport when a jet aircraft takes off, it will be about 100 dB.

According to the team headed by Dr Kameswaran, an ENT specialist, there appears to be a built-in mechanism in the precincts of Madurai temple for containing the echo. The total noise does not exceed a specific level which would make it unpleasant to the visitors.

The temple is an acoustic marvel, observed the experts. Near the road there is one Ashta Shakti Hall. There the noise level is only 40 dB.

The team members said that with this ambient noise it is possible for a person to contemplate and meditate the Divinity.

Roughly about 5000 to 6000 people visit the temple daily. And the sound level recorded during the peak hours is of the order of 70 dB to 80 dB.

It implies that the artisans were aware of the basic principles of acoustics. The huge icons on the unpolished pillars, the distribution of vents, the allocation of open space all around, are all mechanisms to contain the noise level. The arrangements are so made that is not crude but there is an artistic planning combining utility with beauty. This arrangement strangely contrasts with arrangement made in certain modern buildings where instruments for breaking noise and absorbing sound are hung from the roof in a very clumsy and unartistic manner.

This hall is a classic example of perfect sound engineering technique. The average height of each pillar is about 12 feet. The pillars depicts four kinds of motifs, one consisting of moulded squares, the other with rampant dragon, the third with a figure of a deity and the fourth that of a donor or his family. The unpolished pillars of exactly of same size and shape are placed at mathematically accurate positions. These aspects have made the hall echo resistant.

In addition, the pillars are so peculiarly arranges that anyone sitting at a specific spot could view a central figure without any obstruction in any position. At any position inside the hall, in consequence to the arrangement of the pillars, there open up around us 16 colonnades of varying width and such length of each side that the perspective afforded by them is simply marvelous.

The expert team rightly described the thousand pillar hall as an acoustic marvel.

Thousands of such intricate wonders are hidden in these Indian temples.

Who Am I?

So Who am I?
In your human form you’re who you are right now. You are the human form in which your soul has chosen to experience itself. But for me first and foremost we are of soul. Our Soul came first and the human form acts as an overcoat that clothe the soul in this reality. The soul came into being as a spark of life, formed in the mind of the Creator and birthed from its heart as a beautiful divine being of love. Our soul is a manifestation of the ultimate love given by the Creator of all life forms. Soul is the source; a microcosm of the whole; a cell in the body of the Creator consciousness.

The infinite source of life that flows through all living beings is the source that creates all life. Our source, our soul, is that same life force. We are the source of our own life. We are all self creating. Our thoughts, that are sourced from our minds go on to create the reality of our human life and experiences. They are are what determine our limitations and our outcomes. But our soul on the other hand is infinite, which means we too are infinite. Our soul enables us to break free from all restrictive, fearful thinking and those many unconscious boundaries that we place on ourselves through fear of “what-if”, or what others may think about us; or the unhealthy need to please others for fear of rejection, for example.

The heart of creation beats within our soul; our soul talks through our heart. When are heart and mind is aligned then our soul is most at peace and able to express itself more fully. Its presence takes up residence in our mind guiding our thoughts to be of a loving nature, without fear or doubt. Our soul will always show us the way of love, where compassion and understanding create an endless stream of opportunities to express ourselves from our true nature and not from our ego.

When I do connect in the soul, and feels its love flowing through me I am always lost for words. I sit spellbound within its energy and I know and feel it talking to me, through my body and my mind. I feel wrapped in love. It is bliss. I am humbled, yet I feel strong and confident. I am in awe of what I am feeling; yet I know that I truly deserve to feel this way and I am totally unashamedly worthy of love. I do find it hard to describe, as our language cannot do it justice or describe it adequately. It’s not so much about words, but more allowing our selves to experience Soul rather than trying to wrap our minds around it. It can feel like fireworks gently and lovingly exploding inside our body whilst exuding a warmth that flows like silken honey into every ‘nook and cranny’ filling us up to feelings of wholeness and completeness.

Just being…
We can just sit and experience this most wonderful alignment taking place bringing our heart, our mind and our body together in such a way as to make us feel so blessed, so loved and so safe. We just have to allow our selves to experience our Soul’s presence, For when we do our Soul takes us into yet another realm, another dimension of experience; to a place where we feel so connected and so peaceful. Where time does not exist and we come to understand the meaning of just who we are and of just ‘being’. A sense of being without expectation, but one of acceptance and knowing all is well and will be. That it ‘just is’. This feeling alone is gold dust and something to be treasured. Think about it, a life without worry, struggle or stress. A life of knowing that you are fully supported and always taken care of. How wonderful…

Our human body has its own unique shape, which identifies our body type and our blood type. Our physical body is unique to each one of us. Our soul has its own unique shape. Each Soul’s pattern is unique to that Soul. The Soul pattern depicts the Soul’s experiences and can be regarded as the Soul Blueprint. Each Soul is like our thumbprint, which is our singular soul identification. No two are the same. Every one of us is unique. Even our minds, do not, in their entirety, think the same as another mind. Our Souls, our bodies, and our minds through which we perceive life set up apart as individuals. We may have all come from the one Source, but the expression of our uniqueness through each of these avenues as I like to term them, offers a most precious gift and immense opportunity to experience the whole wonderful pot pouri called life.

God is like the hand, the palm of the hand and the fingers and thumbs are all the Souls born from God and expressing God’s love. Our Souls are unique extensions of Its love, and it is through our Soul that It can show Itself. Our human Self can be considered as an extension of our Soul and therefore God. Our Soul is a transformer, turning fearful thinking into (gold) wisdom and spiritual growth. You and I are transformers and we have the ability to transform our lives and our world, where we can act as that channel for our Soul and anchor divine love into every part of our planet.

We are whoever we choose to be
Our soul is the door to the infinite mind which we can all open and step through if we desire. What awaits us on the other side is a knowing and feeling of being totally loved for who we are. Where we feel so safe and secure and unashamedly love of ourself. The love that lives within us erupts like a gentle volcano flooding every cell freeing our minds and our bodies to feel alive; to feel real; to feel that have absolute meaning and purpose. The connection that we feel of our source instantly fills us with a sense of knowing that transcends all what we have been previously taught about who we are. In that moment we feel everywhere; as everyone and we know without doubt who we really are. We are limitless. We are who whoever we choose to be. We become aware of the immense, wonderful gift that we have been given. The gift of life. The gift of you and I.

Hitler’s Wrong Symbol That Defeated Him and Saved the World

August 6th and August 9th. The days that changed the world. On August 6, 1945 an atom bomb was dropped on the peaceful city of Hirsoshima, Japan which claimed more than two lakh victims. On August 9, 1945, three days after the dropping of the first bomb, second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki which claimed about 70000 victims, men, women and children.

The Second World War showed its ugly face and the war came to an end. Hitler the most notorious dictator in the history started the war and believed that he would rule the world. It all started with his obsession on secret symbol.

Thinking that he is of the leader of a supreme race, he tried to follow all sorts of occult practices. One such practice is to choose a correct symbol.

He has selected the Swastika symbol for victory. The Hindus used to draw pictures of Swastika in each and every house. The Same Swastika Flag will be hoisted on all Hindu Temples.

But for the relief of the world he has designed it in a wrong way. There are two types in Swastika. One which is turning towards right is called Daivic Swastika which bestows all good to the user. This is being followed by Hindus.

The other type has backwards rotation. Fortunate to the world and unfortunate to him, Hitler has selected this Asuric Swastika meaning demonic type of Swastika. More over while designing he has rotated it to 45 degrees also which added more evil than good!

Both these changes caused him heavily. Even though he got thunder like victories initially, ultimately the wrong symbol had its own impact on him. And he committed suicide.

But the wrong symbol which was around for some time in the world had its own ultimate impact on Hirsoshima and Nagasaki.

There are about 20000 symbols in the world. All civilizations have used symbols for their good. Imagine a moment, a world without symbols. If there is a dangerous turn ahead, there is a warning symbol. For the Cars, Rails, Ships, Planes there are symbols for their safe movement, navigation, landing, take off etc.

The people of the ancient world used correct symbols to ward off evil eye and they invited wealth, prosperity, victory through these specified symbols.

Is there any proof that symbol will work? Yes, take the one dollar bill and that is the proof. The Founding Fathers of America has ingeniously designed it with all occult symbols including Pyramid, eye, olive branch, 13 arrows etc.

We may also select and use symbols according to our needs. Just keep the symbol in your purse or wallet. You may see the results for yourself.

The various symbols and their effects are to be described in another article.

Similarly, all such individuals can also get exceedingly benefitted in achieving their desired digitized outcomes, if they try to learn few solid digitization techniques in case of performing any self-digitizing movements.

Editing of the digitized designs at the digitizer’s end

However, a digitizing expert can easily modify, edit or combine different design details of certain graphic files according to his/her requisites related to different designing patterns. And this whole processing is mainly done in the special software programs selected by the related folks themselves. Various actions like rotating, scaling, distorting, splitting, duplicating, cropping etc. can be performed by the operators in such special software. At the same time, the designers get the amazing opportunity of colour changing like making it monochromatic in few cases. This feature can also be proven to be beneficial in terms of restoration of such colour changings in the similar software programs. In the exclusive phenomenon of embroidery punching, the designers can also add few excessive details like texting and shapes according to the diverse needs of varying vendors. Let’s Talk About Art

When I just graduated from art school life seemed easy. I would make art in my work room, bring it to a gallery and the gallery would sell it.

Things are a bit different nowadays. I am my own vendor and sell my work at the market. And guess what: that’s lots of fun. People look at my work and I am able to explain what I do, how a certain technique works, why I am doing this, what I want my work to express, why I became a sculptor. And people can tell me what they like about my sculptures and why. When I still sold my work through galleries I had no contact with my buyers at all. People who bought something made me a compliment by the purchase. The owner of the gallery told her customers what “this sculptor” wanted to reveal with her work. She then told them her own opinion of the work and why she had it in her gallery.

Trying to fathom a work of art can be quite challenging. Especially endeavoring to connect with it, feel affected or even be moved by it. Any form of guidance can be helpful, such as a title, the explanation of a similar piece by the same artist or a small story. Sculptures communicate through imagery and we happen to be more familiar with verbal interaction. So in order to really grasp the context of the statue a certain susceptibility to symbolism is required. But even though developing a fluency in visual language can be arduous don’t be discouraged, you can start practicing at any moment. And just like other foreign languages it can be really demanding when you start, so the use of words can help you. This used to be the task of the gallery owner and now I do that myself.

Being my own merchant at the market also yields interesting conversations regarding art or philosophy and what people do or do not like about my work. And their reaction isn’t always verbal. The other day a small girl walked past my stall and she caressed four portraits one by one. It was an endearing sight and she promptly left without saying a single word. But the urge to touch something is a compliment. I like the fact that someone feels herself bodily drawn towards my work. It doesn’t bother me that she used an unusual sensor to express her attraction. I recognize that feeling. When I see a beautiful statue I too want to stroke it. And more often than not that is not allowed. Nice to know that permission is granted at my stall!

Talking about art is always a pleasure. About the essence of beauty and why that is important to somebody. That’s what I like about the market. People look at and talk about my work.
